Editorial Content

In today’s business environment and given the current political situation, German companies operating in Russia have shown remarkable stamina. Hardly any companies have left the country as a result of the crisis, and management has followed through on investment projects. Many business leaders remain convinced that real growth opportunities exist in the Russian market over the medium term. Active market involvement by companies such as Claas, Knauf and German automakers along with their suppliers is evidence of sustained business strategic development. It serves as a blueprint for other companies and shows why it makes sense for German companies to bring a large portion of the value-added chain to Russia.

The 2016 / 2017 German-Russian Economic Yearbook contains a review of the current year, highlights the most significant economic, political and business developments and events, and (for the first time) takes a look ahead at major events and changes in 2017. Interviews with people representing high-profile companies and major trade associations as well as progress reports on individual companies provide an insight into the current state of German-Russian economic relations.

The bilingual publication (German/Russian) will be published to coincide with Open Day at the Moscow Chamber of Industry and Commerce on November 30th, 2016 and it will be presented there. Broad circulation of the 6 000 copies will take place by the end of this year as well as in the following months when the Yearbook will be available at high-profile foreign trade and COC/COIC events and events organised by other associations and government institutions involved in Eastern Europe. Individual copies will also be put on sale.
